2010 New Judges
The Santa Clara County courts have just completed a “rotation,” meaning new judges now occupy judicial positions throughout the county.
Periodically, judges change departments (court rooms) and are assigned to new and different functions. These reassignments are also called rotations when they involve groups of judges being reassigned during the same time period.
Rotations and reassignments are important to anyone involved in court related actions, including persons charged with DUIs.
Judges make critical decisions in DUI cases, such as whether or not to suppress evidence, what laws should apply, and how to interpret the laws that they apply to a DUI case. In addition, judges determine what penalties to impose on a person convicted of a DUI.
